A Brief Hiatus

Dear Readers,

I will be taking a six-month break from this blog in order to compile and publish a selection from the past five years’ posts.

Thank you for your loyal readership over these many months. Your comments about my essays are wise, generous and insightful. When, from time to time, one of you poses a question or offers a new point of view, you expand my own understanding . Thank you to all who take the time to correct facts, point out insufficient evidence and add your experiences and points of view. As I hoped when I began writing this blog, I continue to learn from you and value the conversations which your feedback initiates.

I hope that my book will be ready for publication this summer. After that, The Polly Papers will return to this site.

In the meantime, I leave you with a poem, inviting you to experience an early spring day after this long winter.

Morning in the Orchard

Whatever it is you are doing,

Stop!

and go down to the orchard.

Mist has gathered into beads;

pearls, perfect drops strung

along the branches.

Whatever it is you are doing

will be there when you return;

when the trees have taken off

their necklaces,

when you will have known

pure joy.
